This page provides you some valuable information about what it is like working as part of WorkPac's Wesfarmers Curragh team as well as current vacancies.
One of Australia's largest independent coal producers.
Curragh Mine is operated by Wesfarmers Curragh Pty Ltd, a division of Wesfarmers Limited.
The mine predominantly produces three products – low ash hard coking coal, pulverised coal injection (PCI) coal and high ash steaming coal.
Curragh has been supplying worldwide markets with coking coal since 1984. The excellent coking characteristics and numerous other desirable coal qualities make Curragh coking coal highly sought after by steel makers in Japan, South-East Asia, Europe and South America. The coal is railed 300 kilometres from the mine to the Port of Gladstone.
Curragh’s steaming coal is produced for domestic power generation and railed 160 kilometres directly to Stanwell Power Station near Rockhampton.
Open cut reserves at Curragh allow production levels to be maintained to at least 2025, sustaining an efficient mining operation whilst providing a reliable supply for customers and an acceptable return on our shareholders’ investments.
During 2009 when many resource companies were struggling with the impact of the global financial crisis Wesfarmers Curragh continued to performstrongly. A 12 per cent increase in export sales during this period secured Curragh the Minerals and Energy category at the 47th Australian Export Awards.

The location's proximity to the coast offers easy access to enjoy beautiful towns and beaches. A family-friendly, even time roster ensures you can make the most of this fantastic spot.
WorkPac’s Positive Energy Program has been specifically designed to reinvest a portion of its income from its partnership with Wesfarmers Curragh back into the local community. To date, the program has seen us donate in excess of $40,000 to the people of Blackwater, the most recent being a $25,000 bequest to the Blackwater Hospital.
