LOCATION AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Anglo American has mining operations throughout Queensland and New South Wales which include.
Callide Mine is a leading Queensland domestic coal producer providing 9 Mtpa of low sulphur, sub-bituminous thermal coal for domestic power generation.
The mine is located in the Callide Basin of Central Queensland and is adjacent to the rural city of Biloela.
Capcoal operates two underground mines and two open cut mines which together mine approximately 12 Mtpa of coal to produce in excess of 9 Mtpa of high-quality hard coking coal, pulverised coal injection (PCI) and thermal coal.
Capcoal is located in the heart of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland.
Dartbrook is an underground coal mine in Upper Hunter Valley, New South Wales, which was placed under care and maintenance in 2007. The long-term future of the mine is under review by the joint venture partners with a range of options being considered.
Dawson is one of Queensland's leading export coal operations. An open cut mining operation, Dawson spans almost 60 kilometres and uses three draglines and a significant truck fleet to produce approximately 7.5 Mtpa of coal.
Dawson is located in the Dawson Valley, at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Qld.
Drayton is an open cut coal mine, located 13 kilometres south of Muswellbrook in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW. The mine commenced operation in 1983 and produces approximately 5 Mtpa of thermal coal each year for export and domestic markets.
The Drayton South project, currently in the feasibility stage, is a replacement mine for the existing Drayton operation which will close in 2015 -2016. Drayton South will continue to employ local people and use the same infrastructure and administration buildings as Drayton mine.
Foxleigh is an open cut mine which currently produces 2.5 Mtpa of premium quality PCI coal for the steelmaking industry. Once rail and port expansion projects have been completed, it is expected that Foxleigh’s production will increase to a full capacity of 3.3 Mtpa.
Moranbah North Mine
Moranbah North Mine is an underground coal mine located in the northern part of Queensland’s Bowen Basin, approximately 18 kilometres north of Moranbah. Each year the mine produces approximately 4.5 Mt of high-quality coking coal used in steel-making.
