How to report a hazard or near miss in the workplace

Reporting hazards or near misses that you observe is key to preventing incidents and accidents in our work environments. They are the free lessons we learn from!

A hazard is ANYTHING that you think has the potential to cause harm to you, your workmate or property. This can even be observations that you make as well as actual incidents.

A Near Miss is an event that occurs with the potential to cause harm (including serious injury or death) that may not have any impact at all (i.e. it nearly happened or it happened but luckily no one was in the area).

If you see a hazard or a near miss in your workplace or learn of one or have any kind of safety issue or concern, please report it to your supervisor and to your WorkPac Representative as soon as possible.
