About the Client

Our client is the second largest Australian and third largest global export steelmaking coal producer operating in open cut and underground mining. With their portfolio of world-class competitive mining operations that provide the metals and minerals that enable a cleaner, more electrified world and that meet the fast growing consumer-driven demands of the worlds developed and maturing economies.

 

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, your primary purpose will be to contribute to the creation of a sustainable, agile, and resilient Supply Chain. The position emphasizes driving innovation, fostering supplier partnerships, and enabling effective procurement strategies that align with safety, environmental, and sustainability standards.

As the successful candidate you will assist with procurement activities across the South African region, including sourcing, contract management and supplier performance. Key responsibilities include developing and executing sourcing strategies, stakeholder engagement and relationship building, tracking performance through KPIs and supporting inclusive procurement initiatives. The position also emphasizes the importance of safety, sustainability, and community development as well as ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

 

What you will need:

To be successful in this role, you will need a strong understanding of the supply chain operation, including sourcing, contracting and management. A key focus will be on the ability to develop commercial strategies, manage relationships with suppliers and track performance. You will need excellent negotiation and business development skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience in safety and sustainability practices, particularly in supply chain operations, will be essential. 

A graduate qualification or equivalent, alternatively relevant tertiary qualification and/or proven track record of extensive practical experience in a similar role as well as practical experience in relevant field.

You will need to have experiencing using the following:

 

  • Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook for document creation, analysis, communication, and collaboration.
  • ERP Systems: Such as SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards for procurement, supplier management, and financial operations.
  • Contract Management Tools
  • Data Analysis Tools
  • Project Management Tools
  • Compliance and Risk Tools
