About the Position
Reporting to the Shutdown Event Leader, this role is responsible for the full lifecycle of shutdown cost control, including setup, tracking, forecasting, and reporting. You will ensure costs are accurately managed and aligned to budgets, while supporting reliable and efficient shutdown execution. The role involves working closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver cost-effective outcomes in line with business and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and manage shutdown cost structures within SAP
- Develop and maintain cost tracking and forecasting systems
- Review contractor estimates and validate cost accuracy
- Monitor project spend, commitments, and accruals
- Prepare cost reports, dashboards, and performance insights
- Manage purchase orders and ensure correct cost allocation
- Support month-end close, reporting, and financial analysis
- Track variations, trends, and emergent work costs
- Liaise with contractors to resolve invoicing and payment issues
- Analyse invoices and approve supplier claims
- Provide daily cost reporting during shutdown execution
- Support continuous improvement in cost control processes
Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Cost Controller on shutdown or major projects
- Strong knowledge of SAP and cost management systems
- Experience with project controls tools (e.g., Prism, P6)
- Ability to manage forecasting, accruals, and budgeting
- Strong analytical and financial reporting skills
- Experience working with contractors and supplier management
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
