About Our Client:

About the Role:
WorkPac are seeking an experienced Electrical and Controls Engineer on behalf of our client Rio Tinto to join the Operational Readiness team at Dampier Ports. In this role, you will provide engineering expertise for reclaimer and offboard infrastructure, ensuring design integrity, safety, and operational efficiency. This is a FIFO or residential position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review electrical designs associated with reclaimer and offboard infrastructure
- Identify and implement engineering design improvements
- Assess electrical and control shutdown scopes and provide feedback
- Assist with factory acceptance testing as required
- Evaluate and refine reclaimer control system design and philosophy
- Collaborate with key electrical and control stakeholders
- Oversee electrical installations onsite to ensure compliance with design
- Participate in electrical and control system risk assessments
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation to support design changes
Skills and Experience Required:
- Electrical engineering degree required
- Experience with balance machines desirable
- Previous experience at Dampier beneficial
- Exposure to iron ore mining operations
- Rio Tinto Iron Ore experience preferred
- Functional safety exposure
- Valid C class Drivers Licence
