About the Client

Kestrel mine is located 40km north of Emerald in Queenslands Bowen Basin, and is one of the worlds largest producing metallurgical underground coal mines.  Kestrel mine has been in operation since 1992 and has an approved life of mine until 2033 and reserves to 2046 with the potential to increase further. 

 

What you will be doing:

We are now accepting application's for our Electrical Fitter apprenticeships at Kestrel mine commencing in January 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to kick-start your career with a full-time apprenticeship, combining hands-on experience at our coal mining operation with structured training both on and off site.  Youll be mentored by experienced tradespeople and supervisors, learning the latest industry skills in a supportive, safety-focused environment.

 

On successful completion of the program, youll be a qualified trades person with a Nationally Recognised Qualification opening doors to opportunities across the mining industry and beyond.

 

As a WorkPac apprentice, youll be employed by WorkPac and placed at Kestrel Mine, gaining experience in either electrical or mechanical work specific to an underground mining environment. Youll also receive full benefits of WorkPacs employment and support throughout your apprenticeship.

 

This is a four-year training arrangement, delivered in partnership with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), combining practical site-based experience with formal learning and assessment.

 

 

To be successfully considered for this role, you should have:

 

  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Currently reside in Emerald/Capella or be willing to relocate for these residential opportunities.
  • Ability to work a Monday to Friday roster.
  • An interest in Electrical or Mechanical work with a drive to learn and develop your skills in the classroom and on the tools.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A Queensland Driver Licence (or ability to obtain one)
  • Be 16+ years of age.  Applicants under the age of 18 will require consent from your parent or guardian.
