About the Client:

Our client manages a state-of-the-art correctional facility in northern New South Walesthe largest in Australia. Opened in 2020, the centre accommodates up to 1,700 inmates across varying security classifications. The facility is designed to support rehabilitation and reintegration through comprehensive healthcare, education, cultural, and vocational programs, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, security, and staff wellbeing.

 

About the Role:

Were seeking an Enrolled Nurse to provide high-quality primary healthcare services within a correctional setting located in Grafton, a picturesque town in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. This permanent, full-time role offers a unique opportunity to live and work in a vibrant regional community. Reporting to a Registered Nurse, youll deliver frontline clinical care including medication administration, assessments, wound care, and emergency response. Youll work as part of a multidisciplinary team, with full training and ongoing support provided in a secure and structured environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver primary healthcare services including medication administration, wound care, and health monitoring within a correctional facility
  • Conduct clinical assessments, post-trauma evaluations, and emergency responses under supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to quality improvement and healthcare governance activities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support rehabilitation and culturally sensitive healthcare delivery
  • Assist with the development and implementation of individual healthcare plans for inmates
  • Support induction of new staff and supervise students when required
  • Adhere to all safety, compliance, and security protocols within the correctional environment

 

Skills and Experience Required

  • Current registration with AHPRA as an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (Division 2)
  • Minimum 1 year post-graduate clinical experience (primary health, emergency, or corrections desirable)
  • Venipuncture and cannulation experience
  • Current BLS certification
  • COVID-19 vaccination (min. 2 doses)
  • National Police Check (current or willing to obtain)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain NSW Corrective Services clearance
  • Sound computer literacy and familiarity with clinical systems (e.g. Justice eHealth, PACS, JAX desirable)
