About Our Client
Our client is proudly Australian owned and operated and play a major role in the flexible pavements industry in both QLD and NSW. A fully owned subsidiary of Downer Australia Pty Ltd, they employ over 300 staff and have a fleet of over 400 vehicles and mobile plant. With multiple depots across the country they cover a wide geographical area and have a vast array of clients including State Road Authorities, local Councils, civil contractors, small business and general public.
What You Will Be Doing:
As an asphalt labourer you will be working Monday-Friday, 9-10 hour shifts, working across days & nights. Mostly day shifts however successful candidates must be willing to work night shifts when needed. A roster is provided to you in advance. You will be a valuable member of the asphalt crew and essentially follow them to each site they work on. You will complete duties such as;
- Assist with asphalt laying, spreading, and compacting
- Prepare work sites (clearing debris, leveling ground, setting up barriers)
- Shovel, rake, and distribute asphalt mix as directed
- Support machinery operators (e.g. rollers, pavers, skid steers)
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment
- Clean and prepare road or pavement surfaces before laying asphalt
- Fill cracks and potholes prior to resurfacing
- Apply primers, tack coats, or sealants as required
- Operate basic hand tools (shovels, rakes, brooms, plate compactors)
What You Will Need:
- White Card
- Drivers licence and reliable transport
- Previous experience in civil or construction
- Strong communication skills
- Desire to develop a career in the asphalting industry
- Ability to pass drug & alcohol screen
- Willing to work across days and nights
