About the Client:
Rio Tinto Operates the world's largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets. These assets include a world-class, integrated network of 15 iron ore mines, four port facilities, a 1,700-kilometre rail network and related infrastructure. Rio Tinto are expanding operations in the Pilbara to epic proportions while introducing next generation technologies to deliver greater efficiency, lower production costs and improved health, safety, and environmental performance.
About the Role:
WorkPac is currently in search of an Fauna Specialist to join our esteemed client's team, based in Perth. Monday to Friday, full time hours for a 2-year duration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical advice on fauna management to operational teams
- Act as the subject matter expert for fauna and biodiversity matters
- Support the development of environmental management and closure plans
- Advise on the design and delivery of fauna monitoring programs
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to manage risks and improve environmental outcomes
- Review and provide assurance on environmental scopes of work and technical documents
- Assess technical reports for compliance and external reporting
Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or a related field
- Minimum 6 years experience in mining/resources, government, consulting, or NGOs
- Strong technical expertise in fauna (bat expertise highly regarded)
- Experience with environmental approvals, operations, and closure processes
- Skilled in developing and reviewing environmental management plans and monitoring programs
- Proficient in analysing and interpreting ecological data
- Experience conducting environmental risk assessments and investigations
