About the Role:
WorkPac is currently seeking a GIS Analyst to join Rio Tinto in Perth. In this role, you will process and maintain spatial datasets, perform spatial analyses, and provide insights to support key business decisions and work programmes, ultimately driving value creation.
This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a team of skilled GIS professionals while contributing to the growth of Rio Tintos operations. You will report to the GIS Specialist Tenure Management & GIS, State Agreement & Approvals, working within a supportive and innovative environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Capturing, processing, storing and analysing vector and raster data.
- Using FME to automate data work procedures.
- Developing geo-processing tools using Python and Java scripting.
- Creating 3D surfaces using LiDAR data.
- Improving the efficiency of data processing.
- Liaising with customers to achieve value adding outcomes.
- Providing support and training to GIS users.
Skills & Experience Required:
- 5+ years experience in a similar role.
- Tertiary-level qualifications in GIS or related discipline.
- Excellent spatial and statistical analysis skills.
- Database management skills (SQL).
- Experience ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) software (e.g. FME).
- The ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Exposure to Geological, Environmental and Heritage datasets.
