What you will be doing
As a Leading Hand Heavy Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for the below duties:
- Leading and mentoring a team of mechanics and trade assistants
- Assigning and prioritising daily maintenance, diagnostics, and repair tasks
- Ensuring all fleet vehicles meet safety and compliance standards
- Assisting with mechanical and electrical fault finding and repair
- Supporting documentation, inventory, and parts tracking
- Responding to workshop issues and assisting hands-on when needed
- Stepping in to support the Workshop Manager during leave
What you will need
To be successful in this role you will need to have the below:
- Trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic
- Experience working with Scania and Volvo vehicles (advantageous)
- HR Licence (preferred)
- Leadership experience or the confidence to step into a leadership role
- Strong communication, organisational, and team coordination skills
- Flexibility to work on a rotating weekend roster
- Focus on safety, quality, and compliance
