About our client
Our client is a leader in the engineering, design and fabrication space across a diverse range of industries including manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, chemical, food processing and minerals. Due to rapid growth, our client is now seeking a Project Manager to join their business on a permanent basis in their Construction division, based out of their Hemmant workshop in Brisbane.
About the role
As a Project Coordinator your primarily responsible for the management/delivery of construction engineering projects from concept to completion from a broad client base. Primarily, the projects are completed with the assistance of subcontractors and internal trades.
What you will be doing
- Proactively contact, visit and respond to existing and potential stakeholders of client organisations, building rapport and effective business relationships
- Compile and submit formal tender proposals to stringent quality standards and to strict deadlines
- Establishing the scope of works, man hours, materials and ancillary estimates for projects and provide competitive and commercially responsible quoting of services.
- Liaise and coordinate with the Engineering and Drafting department to develop conceptual and design drawings to client specifications
- Development of key project documentation including contract, safety and engineering documentation, project plans/schedules as required for completion
- Manage the purchasing of materials, tools, machinery and ancillary equipment, including hiring of cranes, elevated work platforms, forklifts and operators etc for project completion
- Develop and deliver monthly invoicing in accordance with the Head Contract conditions to clients
- Manage and coordinate the project construction work team (internal and external) to ensure the project is delivered professionally, safely, dynamically, on schedule and within budget
- Maintain a supervisory presence throughout the installation process and provide technical advice and guidance to the installation team
What you will need
- Experience in project planning, methodology plans and project programming using Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar
- Ability to develop and communicate short and long-range programs specific to the project, to construction trades and client representatives
- Experience with vetting, engaging and managing subcontractors, including elements of contract administration
- Experience in managing project claims and variations along with trade forecasting
- Ability to effectively communicate in a team environment with Site Managers and Site Supervisors for the successful delivery (safety, quality and program) of projects
- Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management or Civil/Structural Engineering with desire for project delivery career. Suitable candidate with knowledge of the industry and experience in the management of construction trades will also be considered.
- Experience as a Site Engineer or Project Engineer working on building and construction projects.
- Competent computer skills for programming, project planning software, and all Microsoft programs.
