Our client is a major government-owned energy provider with a diverse portfolio of generation assets, including thermal, wind, solar, and hybrid systems across Western Australia. Their Generation Business Unit plans and delivers vital construction and infrastructure projects that support the states energy future.

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Cost Controller to join a high-performing Project Controls team supporting sustaining projects within a complex operational environment.

In this role, you will provide end-to-end cost management, forecasting, and financial reporting while partnering closely with Project Managers and stakeholders to ensure transparent and disciplined project delivery. You will also support project governance, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and assist in maintaining systems, processes, and reporting frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver end-to-end cost control and forecasting across multiple projects
  • Monitor project performance and maintain accurate cost forecasts
  • Analyse cost variances, trends, and risks, providing clear insights and recommendations
  • Prepare monthly reporting, including financial and portfolio performance metrics
  • Support project governance and ensure compliance with processes and standards
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and stakeholders to support delivery outcomes
  • Maintain and improve project systems, tools, and documentation
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to project personnel
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, and leadership

Skills and Experience Required

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, or Project Management
  • Minimum 2+ years experience in a project or cost control environment (5+ years preferred)
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycles, methodologies, and change management
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience using SAP project modules
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Commitment to process improvement and continuous development
  • Experience with MS Project, Primavera P6, or scheduling tools
  • Proficiency in Power BI
  • Background in project controls or portfolio management
