Short Description:
We are seeking an experienced HSE Lead for construction activities within Rio Tinto. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring safety and compliance across all construction activities while driving safety culture improvements.

About the Position:
As the HSE Lead, you will oversee the health, safety, and environmental management on construction projects, ensuring compliance with Rio Tinto standards and policies. Key duties include:
Lead and facilitate HSE inductions and training programs for all construction personnel
Review, assess, and update HSE risk assessments for construction activities
Provide leadership in safety programs and embrace a culture of continuous improvement
Ensure incidents are investigated, and corrective actions are implemented
Work closely with site HSE advisors to manage and improve risk controls
Develop, implement, and manage HSE processes and ensure all statutory equipment is inspected
Collaborate with contractors and project teams to ensure safe and compliant execution of construction activities
Key Responsibilities Include:
Demonstrate a strong personal commitment to HSE
Ensure all construction activities comply with Rio Tintos HSE standards and policies
Facilitate HSE inductions, training, and risk assessments
Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation
Foster a strong safety culture and promote business safety improvement plans
Ensure proper documentation and compliance with the RTIO Contractor Management System (CMS)
Mentor and coach contractor partners to align with RTIOs safety and quality standards
Perform quality leadership through regular site inspections and document reviews
Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Skills and Experience Required:
Strong knowledge of HSE policies, procedures, and statutory requirements
Proven experience leading and implementing safety initiatives in construction
Ability to develop and review risk assessments and safety management plans
Demonstrated leadership in construction execution and safety culture promotion
Familiarity with Rio Tinto systems and processes (advantageous)
Experience in building fabrication and construction in brownfield environments (desirable)
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
Strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to adapt in dynamic and high-performing team environments
