Rio Tinto are expanding operations in the Pilbara to epic proportions while introducing next generation technologies to deliver greater efficiency, lower production costs and improved health, safety and environmental performance.

 

 

About the Position:

WorkPac are seeking candidates for a unique opportunity to join Rio Tintos Critical Orders Team. The Critical Orders Team provides 7 days a week breakdown purchasing and logistics support to all Rio Tinto Iron Ore operations. This role is based in the Perth CBD, on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster for an initial 6 month duration.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Support operational teams by providing an immediate purchasing and logistics coordination options, including afterhours support, to ensure minimal downtime to machine or plant due to parts availability.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key transport providers to ensure delivery of critical equipment on time, and use of consolidation to optimise inbound freight resources.
  • Liaise with HME & Fixed Plant specialist contracted suppliers to expedite critical breakdown equipment
  • Support operational teams by providing coaching through Critical Order process and SAP based procurement
  • Review and convert urgent breakdown labour requisitions to critical orders
  • Analyse and process freight requests to ensure the most suitable option is selected to meet both site requirements and financial obligations
  • Support the delivery of departmental continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong decision-making capability
  • Engaging with site operations to problem solve

 

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Skilled with SAP, including inventory, Purchase to Pay and maintenance functions
  • Experience in a high volume processing environment
  • A sound understanding of maintenance strategies and philosophies
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills both internally & externally
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a position of trust in an autonomous environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Dedication to continuous improvement, consistently seeking ways to enhance productivity.
  • C Class Drivers Licence
