About Our Client
Our client is currently delivering emergency response efforts to various communities across the Territory and requires a surge workforce to support critical human welfare initiatives, while also maintaining ongoing public service commitments.
Candidates holding valid working rights (RTW) may be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to client review.
What You Will Be Doing
Successful candidates will be responsible for supporting operations within evacuation and welfare centres, including assisting members of the public during flood-related events and other emergencies. The role requires strong communication skills, with the ability to interact fluently in English while helping individuals complete necessary forms and documentation. Candidates will also work collaboratively with staff to patrol centre grounds, monitor behaviour, and contribute to maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
A key aspect of the role involves assisting people who may be distressed after losing homes or belongings, where empathy and conflict resolution skills are highly valued. Additionally, candidates will engage with members through activities such as games to help create a welcoming atmosphere, while also undertaking administrative and data entry tasks. This role supports the Northern Territory Governments welfare response to emergencies, with a seasonal workload that varies depending on the number of DRFA events, requiring flexibility and responsiveness during peak periods.
What You Will Need
- Ability to manage difficult or frustrated members, using conflict-resolution and de-escalation strategies while maintaining service standards.
- Working With Childrens Check
- NT Drivers Licence & Reliable Car. (Willingness to travel across the Northern Territory, including remote locations, sometimes in response to emergency events)
- Admin Project Administration & Logistics Officer Skills
