About the Client

Rio Tinto Operates the world's largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets. These assets include a world-class, integrated network of 15 iron ore mines, four port facilities, a 1,700 kilometre rail network and related infrastructure. Rio Tinto are expanding operations in the Pilbara to epic proportions while introducing next generation technologies to deliver greater efficiency, lower production costs and improved health, safety and environmental performance.

About the Role

WorkPac are currently seeking an Acting Principal Advisor to join Rio Tinto's Sustaining Capital PMO West Team to support the safe delivery of Projects at Tom Price and Marandoo. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and governing the implementation of asset management programmes and engagements of work across complex, multi-site environments.

This is a great leadership opportunity for a motivated team player who puts people at the heart and brings a commitment to the safety of yourself and your team. You will lead a team of Project management and Engineering professionals who manage a diverse group of projects to support the Greater Tom Price and Marandoo mine sites, within the Pilbara Iron Ore region in Western Australia.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Showcase your leadership skills by fostering a diverse and inclusive team

  • Implement the asset management systems processes and enabling tools across asset management work streams

  • Identify improvement opportunities within asset management systems and processes by gathering stakeholder feedback

  • Coach, mentor and train building capability for your team and leaders across the sites

  • Support the development of the sites critical asset integrity strategies & tactics, using most appropriate techniques, adhering to statutory and Group requirements

  • Develop and implement risk management improvement plans for safe and reliable operations to avoid failures

  • Lead the development and deployment of the Rio Tinto Asset Management assurance program for the Greater Tom Price and Marandoo sites in line with the Group Asset Management assurance programme

  • Support and monitor the implementation and compliance to Group engineering/performance standards and associated assurance

  • Establish effective working relationships with all stakeholders and ensure effective portfolio communications

  • Listen for, uncover and resolve potential conflicts or disagreements about project priorities

  • Ensure portfolio resources are appropriate to enable the necessary operational and strategic capability

  • Ensure effective reporting of all projects to enable stakeholders, sponsors and management to make appropriate decisions

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a leadership role will be crucial for you to be successful in this position, as you will be provided the opportunity to lead a collaborative group of professionals.

  • Comprehensive understanding of project management will be important to help you succeed.

  • Your communication skills are integral to this role as you lead a group of professionals and support the various departments across the sites.

  • Strong stakeholder management skill set as you collaborate within the group to share learnings and support replication opportunities.
