About the Role

Rio Tinto Dampier Port mine site are seeking a Conveyor Technician or Mechanical Maintainer with Belt Splicer experience to join their crew. The role will predominantly involve performing splicing and repairs on all types of conveyor belts, installing conveyor belts using rigging gear, winches or cranes as required to fit and assemble system components, and the disassembly of the conveyors by removing components of system (guards, scrapers, rollers, stringers and frames) to gain access to belt to perform splice. The role may also involve locking of counter weights (hydraulics) and performing conveyor belt mapping on pulleys, rollers or belts and report on belt condition.

Skills & Experience

• 1-2 years experience in conveyor belt splicing

• Mechanical Trade Qualification or Belt Slicer experience

• Valid Australian 'C' class manual driver licence

• High Risk Work Licence - EWP (highly desirable)

• Working at Heights (highly desirable)

• Conveyor belt scraper & Steel cord experience (highly desirable)

• Proficiency with inspecting belts for damage & faults (highly desirable)

• Fitness to handle manual labour in hot conditions in the Pilbara
