About The Role

WorkPac are seeking a Business Analyst to join a Digital Program in Rail Productivity, working on a number of priority projects. The program team conducts scoping and planning for each project, builds the business case and submits these, working with stakeholders, to gain capital funding approval. The Rail Digital Program is an enabling function that ensures the portfolio of capital projects deliver solutions which achieve key business objectives and are supportable by IS&T.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with business partners, project managers, technical resources, vendor partners and business stakeholders to develop and document as-is and to-be business processes, define business requirements, produce gap analysis, assess impacts to business areas and assist with other activities to implement technical solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate structured workshops and interviews as an input to business analysis activities for requirements elicitation.

  • Assess and critically analyse information gathered to develop and prioritise requirements (functional and non-functional) and capture in appropriate artefacts according to business analysis practice.

  • Use process modelling to determine business requirements and process improvements that deliver benefits for the business.

  • Facilitate communication between the relevant business areas, technology teams and support teams to ensure that business solutions are aligned with business objectives.

  • Utilise software development lifecycle methodologies e.g. waterfall, agile.

  • Implement technology solutions including development of work instructions, procedures, testing and training.

  • Design technology solutions by analysing requirements and writing functional specifications.

  • Apply standardised templates, methodologies and processes for business analysis activities and related project documentation.

  • Provide timely and expert advice regarding business requirements, system requirements, information requirements, business impacts, traceability matrices and project risks.

  • Develop and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships, partnerships and networks to anticipate and negotiate changes in client expectations and requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in the application of formal Business Analysis methodologies and software development life-cycle practices.

  • Exposure to Business Process analysis and modelling.

  • Experienced conducting current and future state analysis.

  • Able to write evaluation criteria for vendor selection.

  • Exposure to formal people change management practices.

  • Highly developed skills and experience in the elicitation and documentation of business and system requirements.

  • Proficient in using Microsoft O365 suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio).

  • Self-motivated, conscientious and adaptable with excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with a strong ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organisation.

  • Proven experience working independently with multidisciplinary teams, meeting deadlines, building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.

  • Strong customer centric approach.

  • Attention to detail and use of initiative.
