About the Role:

WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced a Chemist to join our client Rio Tinto's Sampling, Laboratory and Quality central team based in Perth WA for a 21 month period. You will be part of a dynamic and diverse team in the newly formed Process Engineering division that is primarily based at the Central Park offices in Perth, with travel to sites as required. With an unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of yourself and those around you, this role will allow you to build on your skills and experiences within bulk commodity production and analysis.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

• Supporting sites to ensure that sampling and analysis across RTIO are performed within defined ranges of precision and accuracy.

• Supporting the improvement and maintenance of Laboratory Information System - STARLIMS

• Supporting the site laboratory operator and supervisors in the use of STARLIMS

• Monitoring QA results to identify any bias in measurements

• Maintaining quality assurance systems and results reporting

• Managing the supply of reference materials to the iron ore laboratories

• Working with laboratory supervisors to achieve required levels of sampling and analysis output and quality

• Assisting with the design and commissioning new sampling and analysis facilities

• Supporting the upskilling of site personnel in instrument operation/calibration and quality assurance

• Engaging with external contractors and suppliers and monitor the quality and standard of services delivered

Skills and Experience Required:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Science, Chemistry or equivalent

• Thorough understanding of the Iron Ore sampling and analysis equipment and systems advantageous

• Demonstrated experience in sample preparation and analysis

• Proficiency in software such as STARLIMS and MS Office including Excel

• Excellent communication and influencing skills

• Current C Class drivers licence
