Electrical Engineer

About the Position: In partnership with our leading National Explosives and Blasting Systems Client, WorkPac are currently seeking a experienced Electrical Engineer to commence immediately. This position will hold a Monday to Friday roster and will be 40 hours per week. Alternatively, this position could also be based within the Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth offices. This position would suit an experienced Electrical Engineer with demonstrated experience across fixed and mobile plant. Key Responsibilities: Safety execution & leadership Electrical, Instrument and Control System Engineering Support in capital projects and existing plant and assets Regulatory and Statutory compliance of assets delivered by project team (MPU, AEMSC, AS2187) Engage Design Resources to execute works Business improvement (delivering the savings, governance and process) Regional engineering and capex support Cost centre management support Execute commissioning and handover of capital projects and/or modified plant and assets Existing plant and asset compliance via RE audit activities SH&E Lead by example to correct SH&E hazards and demand a high SH&E standard from others. Sustaining awareness and providing electrical engineering advice on safety, relevant group standards and statutory regulations (within the electrical team, wider engineering group and internal customers). Ensuring that all electrical designs produced comply with Basis of Safety. Actively participate in design reviews and hazard studies for new and existing designs and projects. Monitoring performance by regular audits. Commercial Ownership Ensure all designs produced comply with all relevant statutory and corporate standards. Ensuring that design requests are documented through the SAP Work Order system and supported by concept papers, scope of works and design reviews where appropriate. Maximise the utilisation of existing designs ensuring standardisation of components and design concepts for fixed plant and mobile equipment. Preparing electrical design project estimates as appropriate. Managing project electrical design and drafting resources efficiently. Always seeking to improve customer outcomes through the consideration of customer perspectives. Working Together Ensure work is appropriately defined such that design output and processes meet customer expectations. Sharing technical and business knowledge throughout the global engineering group. Manage relationships with internal business units and external service providers for timely delivery of cost effective electrical design solutions. Technical Expertise Provide expert knowledge regarding electrical systems used within the Mining Services Group. Design electric/electronic protection systems to enable compliance with the Group's safety objectives. Provide technical advice and assist as agreed in the investigation of significant electrical incidents within the Mining Services Group. Develop Engineering standards defining duties, operating parameters, protection requirements, installation practices etc. for various applications. Ensure Functional Safety (including Safety Instrumented Functions or SIFs) and Hazardous Area compliance. Key Requirements: Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) preferred not mandatory- must be willing to work toward RPEQ accreditation 5 - 8 years experience in professional engineering. Experience in project management and managing small teams. Hold a relevant engineering degree) from a recognised tertiary institute.
