About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Mining Technology team, undertaking design, development and implementation of project systems engineering that will help realise best-in-class technology solutions for Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO).
What you will be doing:
Leading the application of the systems engineering methodology to define the use cases and requirements for technologies/systems that are planned for deployment
Creating technology systems conceptual design and development of detailed design specifications.
Developing and executing Test Plans for the project phases through Trial, FAT, SAT and UAT
Managing the execution of the functional & system safety lifecycle for safety-related technologies and systems delivered to RTIO
Provide technical support during prototype and trial testing of new technologies
Working with suppliers to ensure that solutions are developed and deployed in accordance with RTIO safety practices, relevant legislation, and Australian/international standards
Working with our broader teams to specify the appropriate solutions and methodologies for future deployments
Working with our operations teams and technology developers to implement robust technology that allows Rio Tinto to lead mining operations that are safe, consistent, reliable, efficient and smart
What you will need:
A degree qualification of at least Bachelors level in an appropriate engineering degree
Minimum 3 years experience with autonomous, tele-remote or other intelligent system technologies in the resources or manufacturing industry
Experience in transitioning technologies from low maturity demonstrators to in-use as part of a production system
Experience in safety-case construction and associated tools (such as HAZOP, Risk Assessments, FMECA, FTA)
Good knowledge of Systems Engineering approaches, tools and their application
Experience with IP Networking, wifi or LTE systems is highly desirable
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
