About the Role
WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our client Rio Tinto. This role will be reporting to the Principal Engineer - Technical Assurance - Portfolio Management within the Sustaining Capital team. Sustaining Capital delivers a portfolio of capital projects that support our mining, rail and port operations to produce iron ore in a safe and cost-effective manner. This role is part of a team of engineers and subject matter experts responsible for supporting project leads through activities in technical input.
Your base will be Central Park in Perth Western Australia. The projects overseen by the Technical Assurance team are in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia where Rio Tinto operates the world's largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets with industry-leading margins. Flexible working arrangements are available. You can take advantage of an ideal combination of working remotely, from home as well as spending face-to-face time with your colleagues on a regular basis at our head office in Central Park - Perth CBD, with irregular site travel required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Application of adherence to industry best engineering design and engineering processes and systems which are critical for successful project delivery
Fulfilling a technical assurance role for the electrical engineering discipline
Leaning on your extensive industry experience, providing guidance to project leads and teams in the development of project scopes and entire project life cycle
Reviewing design deliverables such as drawings, calculations and reports
Providing input into HAZOPS, HAZIDS and Functional Safety Risk Assessments and the response of technical queries (TQ), construction queries and general technical support
Supporting commercial activities through technical input i.e. TQ responses, technical reviews of tenders and improvement ideas
Ad hoc travel to our Pilbara operations will be required for inspections of plant and equipment
Skills and Experience
Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team with a positive attitude and strong values
A strong understanding of engineering design and construction processes
Subject matter expert with a bachelor?s degree in electrical engineering (mandatory)
Ability to work in a team environment and autonomously with strong decision making capability with the ability to lead, influence and motivate
Chartered Professional Engineer (highly regarded)
Strong understanding of the project lifecycle, Australian Standards, RTIO standards and functional and process safety
Experience in project commissioning and strong problem resolution
Knowledge of mining and port operations will be advantageous but not essential as we are open to experience from other heavy industries such as oil/gas, aviation and manufacturing;
A valued partner of our site operation teams and project leaders, you will build close partnerships with the internal and external stakeholders to deliver focussed solutions.
Experience in defining and implementing project improvement initiatives to maximise capital efficiency throughout the delivery lifecycle
Project management experience, or within a project environment will also be highly regarded.
A Current C Class WA Driver?s license
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;
Working knowledge of SAP, MS Office (Excel, Project etc), Primavera, PRISM would be an advantages
