Fitter & Machinist

About the Client

Specialising in the manufacturing, servicing and distribution of mining and construction equipment, our client is looking to add a Fitter & Machinist to their team. Based out of their Wacol (QLD) location, you will be responsible for all areas relating to service and fitting of rockdrills. This position will require safe and responsible performance of all duties with the use of ProReman manuals, procedures and instructions and partner with technical support to provide solutions to customer service requirements. As the Fitter & Machinist you will be expected to work Monday to Friday (minimum 8 hours a day) and be required to pass a Pre-Employment Medical before commencing.

What You Will Be Doing

Moving into an immediate full-time position with the company, your responsibilities will range across various components with a focus on the below duties.

  • Daily tasks as required across all service areas: stripping, cleaning, quoting, machining, rebuilding, and testing

  • Troubleshooting service issues and when necessary, escalating issues to relevant technical service area for resolution

  • Support the Production Manager in setting and fulfilling the national service plan

  • Inventory control - receive, despatch, parts picks, and parts ordering

  • Provide workshop supervision and leadership

  • Guide and mentor Apprentice Fitter Machinists

  • Aid team members when required

  • Focus on quality and continuous improvement

  • Adherence to company procedures

  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities

What You Will Need

  • Fitting and Machining Trade Qualification or tertiary equivalent

  • Senior First Aid

  • Current Forklift Ticket

  • Driver's Licence + Transport

  • Extensive fitting and machining experience inclusive of welding

  • Demonstrated Industry experience

  • Computer literacy in word, outlook, excel

  • Must excel in a fast paced, agile environment where critical thinking, strong technical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills are required

  • Innovative thinker who is positive, proactive, and ready to embrace change

  • Strong written and verbal skills

  • Ability to resolve conflicts with desirable outcomes

  • Able to work unsupervised and self manage
