Governance Advisor
WorkPac are currently seeking a Governance Advisor for the Town of Port Hedland. The purpose of this role is to deliver contemporary governance service including legislative, regulatory and policy compliance and reviews, and provide accurate and timely high-level support.
Local Port Hedland and surrounding residents encouraged to apply. FIFO from Perth arrangements will also be accepted. This position will also start off as a 3-month contract with possible extension to full time employment.
The successful candidate is responsible to work closely with the Senior Governance Advisor to ensure the Council is meeting all legislative compliance requirements, lead a number of key governance activities including but not limited to delegations, internal review of Council decisions, election, caretaker and representation reviews.
Skills and Experience
Relevant tertiary qualifications in governance, policy, government, business, law or similar.
5+ yearsâ experience in previous local government experience in an advisory capacity
Strong written and verbal communications skills including policy and procedures writing and presentation skills
Strong capacity to exercise sound judgement, discretion, and political awareness
Well-developed analytical research and problem-solving skills
Strong time management and organisational skills
Ability to research, interpret and apply legislation and provide advice
National Police Clearance
Valid WA Drivers Licence
