About the Role
WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Hydrogeologist to join our client Rio Tinto. This role will provide a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to work as part of a field-based team of dedicated hydrogeologists and technical officers. You will support the safe execution of hydrogeological field programs, which are integral to the ongoing management of water related risk to our operations in the Pilbara. The role encompasses a diverse range of activities including drilling, aquifer testing and groundwater related monitoring works. You will be working an 8 days on / 6 days off roster, reporting to the Water Resource Evaluation Senior Field Hydrogeologist.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervising technical aspects of the drilling, installation and aquifer testing of water supply, dewatering, reinjection and groundwater monitoring infrastructure.
Daily collection, entry and interpretation of hydrogeological data; writing of field program completion reports, and conducting analyses of aquifer testing data.
Work collaboratively with the Lead Hydrogeologists and Contract Partners to execute the Scope of Works.
Maintain adherence to scientific method during the collection of water quality samples in accordance with RTIO and relevant regulatory guidelines.
Arrange and oversee timely dispatch of samples to accredited testing laboratories.
Maintenance and care of field equipment to enable the safe and efficient collection of data and samples.
Organisation of logistical support for monitoring programmes.
Promoting positive behaviour and a supportive safety / team culture.
Skills and Experience
A minimum Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Hydrogeology or Geoscience field
Excellent communication / time management skills and ability to work within a dynamic team environment
An unrestricted 'C' Class Driver's Licence
Relevant mine site 4WD training & qualifications
Commitment to health, safety and environment, promoting positive behaviour and a supportive safety culture through visible leadership
Be highly attuned to issues of hydrogeological data capture, quality control and information workflow
Previous experience in hydrogeological field investigations will be considered favourably
Awareness of the minimum construction requirements for water bores in WA
Experience driving in steep / difficult terrain and remote locations
Post-graduate qualifications in hydrogeology
Understanding of WA's environment regulations applicable to water
