About the Role

WorkPac are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician for our client's Rio Tinto Dampier site.

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will be physically testing (crushing, grinding, weighing, sieving) iron ore / base metals, conducting manual preparation using rotary sample dividers and other associated duties within a laboratory environment.

This role is open to applicants that reside in the Karratha or Dampier region ONLY.

Primary Responsibilities

Conduct sampling, testing and related laboratory tasks following standard instructions and work schedule

Work in accordance with pre-established work instructions and procedures under general supervision

Carries out routine analytical tests and record data using site operational data system

Carries out routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and liaises with senior support staff on fault repair

Carries out duties in accordance with relevant HSE rules and procedures and good laboratory practice

Maintain chemicals stock.

Skills and Experience

Experience as a Laboratory Operator or in the mining environment would be highly desirable however not essential

Forklift Ticket (desirable)

C Class manual drivers license(mandatory)

Willingness to learn

Willing to complete a pre-employment medical
