About the Role:

WorkPac is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to work with our Engineered Wood Products client - PNG Forest Products Pty Ltd. This position is full time permanent, is FIFO from Australia and based in Bulolo, Morobe Province (Papua New Guinea). This position will provide Accommodation, Utilities, Medical and Medivac coverage, Disability Insurance, Education costs, and a company vehicle. 6 Weeks of annual leave is also offered - to be taken in 2 x leave periods throughout the year.

This is a senior full-time position within the company with an attractive remuneration package and an opportunity to manage the strategic planning, operational performance and product delivery of the PNGFP Engineering Division.

The position involves responsibility for;

• PNGFP hydro-power generation operations and reticulation including Power Stations, HV/MV/LV line reticulation and maintenance, Substations maintenance, and regulatory compliance requirements.

• Management of the Technical Services section with oversight of the electrical operations and maintenance requirements of PNGFP Plymill and Sawmill plants.

• Oversight of the various electrical services and requirements for the Bulolo Township.

Key Accountabilities of the Position:

• You will lead the engineering division that maintains Bulolo's electrical and mechanical infrastructure, managing and collaborating with on-site engineers to solve complex technical issues, while ensuring high-quality standards.

• Managing the hydropower generation operations, reticulation, and maintenance of power stations, HV/MV/LV line, substations, as well as regulatory compliance requirements

• Overseeing the Technical Services section with management of electrical operations and maintenance requirements of the PNGFP Plymill and Sawmill plants

• Supervising the various electrical services and requirements for the Bulolo Township (e.g. refrigeration, TV, and communications)

• Managing the engineering division of around 200 electrical and mechanical trades staff

• Providing the consistent delivery and strategic improvement of power supply, electrical/mechanical operations, and engineering maintenance performance

• Directing the engineering team to ensure high-quality domestic installation, electrical workshop maintenance, machine and fabrication shop repairs, industrial facility repairs, and maintenance

• Assisting key leadership stakeholders in executing projects, including regulatory compliance, budget, and resourcing allocations

• Providing leadership across all areas of our engineering division, including training, mentorship, delegation, safety enforcement, and performance reviews.

Requirements of the Role:

• Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering degree.

• Minimum of 5 years of senior level experience as a Senior/Lead Engineer, preferably in a similar industry (e.g., hydroelectric power, industrial power supply generation/distribution, engineered wood products etc.).

• Up-to-date knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical engineering best practices

• Proven leadership experience

• Ability to communicate in English (both verbal and written)

• Project and operational management

• Budgeting and resource allocation

• Problem-solving and excellent analytical skills
