About the Role

WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a 12-month contract with Rio Tinto. Perth based at the Operations Centre, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be working on the clientâs Water and Hydrocarbons Sustaining Capital Projects, reporting to the Principal Advisor within Hydrocarbons, Water and Wastewater.

Duties include:

• Providing technical input to the following processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards

  • Design, procurement and installation of new hydrocarbons and water assets or upgrades to existing assets.

  • Expansion of infrastructure to support the growth of Pilbara Operations.

  • Review of RTIO Engineering Standard Specifications and Design Criteria

  • Operational readiness, including development and improvement of maintenance tactics for hydrocarbons and water assets.

• Driving and collaborating with sites, major suppliers, and service providers to scope and implement process and infrastructure improvements.

• Managing divisionally based hydrocarbon and water supply and infrastructure projects from pre-feasibility through to execution.

• Managing Utilities Hydrocarbons and Water CAPEX budget spend and capitalisation, including projects being delivered within Utilities as well as those being executed by other divisions for Utilities.

Skills and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar

• Knowledge of Hydrocarbons and Water engineering, specifically for utilities, and distribution assets.

• Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to perform complex analysis and design.

• Project management experience

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

• Leadership and mentoring capabilities (preferred)

• WA C Class Drivers Licence
