Mechanical Specialist

Our client,a global leader in the iron ore industry, recognised for their culture, innovation and industry-leading development of world class infrastructure and mining assets in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

About the Role

This role works within the Asset Management & Reliability team with a focus on Fixed Plant equipment. This team works to identify best practice and to ensure it is applied across all Fixed Plant operations to support the safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of all assets. The Mechanical Specialist role has a particular focus on screening, crushing, wear management & pumping components of the Fixed Plant assets.

Duties & Responsibilities

Your duties and responsibilities will include:-

  • Develop and deliver long term reliability improvement projects and optimised maintenance strategies for Fixed Plant mechanical equipment including vibrating screens, crushers, pumps, gearboxes and wear management.

  • Facilitate the sharing of lessons and improvements across our Fixed Plant sites in an effort to achieve best practice, this shall include regular site visits.

  • Develop and update Equipment Standards and Specifications to support safety, reliability and cost effectiveness.

  • Provide ongoing technical support for our Operational sites, Major Projects, Inventory, Procurement & Contracts teams.

  • Participate in site audits against the Asset Management Standard.

Skills & Experience

Qualifications and skills required:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience is desired. Operational experience with Fixed Plant assets in the Resources industry is preferred.

  • A Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or a relevant Mechanical Trade Qualification.

  • A highly motivated individual who has the ability to influence and engage stakeholders, both internal and external.

  • Formal training in Asset Management practices is favourable but not essential.

  • SAP literacy, MS Office literacy is preferred.

  • Demonstrated Project Management skills.

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and a continual improvement focus.

  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, facilitation and presentation skills.

  • Advanced time management, planning, organizational, scheduling and coordination skills.
