About our Client:

Rio Tinto operates the worlds largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets. These assets include a world-class, integrated network of 15 iron ore mines, four port facilities, a 1,700 kilometre rail network and related infrastructure.

About the Role:

WorkPac are currently seeking an Project Engineer to join our Rail Project Delivery team within Sustaining Capital (SC), to be responsible for project engineering through a number of Grade separation projects to deliver the civil projects of the Rail Capital plan.

What you will be doing:

  • Project manage consultants undertaking design for grade separation in line with Sustaining Capital and Main Roads requirements and in line with Rio Tintoâs company values, to achieve objectives

  • Help deliver Grade Separation projects for the Rail Capital plan

  • Assess consultant and project performance against project schedule to meet SC project timelines and cost

  • Ensure compliance with standardised project processes, systems, and tools across SC projects.

  • Manage project vendors including performance against contract deliverables

  • Participate in and actively manage the risks of the projects

  • Coordinate with Asset Representatives, Capital Coordinators, Project Controls, Contracts & Procurement and Stakeholders (internal & external) to provide properly scoped projects in a coordinated manner

  • Prepare and review estimates, budgets, forecasts, schedules, and execution plans

  • Coordinate between engineering, delivery, operations, HSE, procurement and finance

  • Monitor project progress against budget and forecasted schedule

  • Prepare and submit reports on project progress

  • Maintain effective and on-going communications with the delivery team and contractors

  • Implement the stakeholder engagement plan across grade separation projects.

  • Monitor, manage, and report all relevant design changes to key stakeholders

  • Collaborate with key stakeholder to drive a culture of collaboration, participation, and improvement

What you will bring:

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

  • Experience in project engineering with previous Rio Tinto management and/or client side EPC civil experience preferred

  • Strategic thinker with a proven history on civil projects covering approvals, design, procurement's and delivery

  • Highly effective communication skills

  • he ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 â MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Working Knowledge of Archer, CPMS, the Sustaining Capital Framework and the ALIM drawing system

  • Experience with approvals AR process, road design, rail and general earthworks
