About the Role:
WorkPac is seeking an experienced Project Estimator for a Monday to Friday Roster, 40 hours per week, based in Rio Tinto's Central Park Office. This position has a 12 Month Initial Duration, with the possibility of extension. Rio Tinto are seeking a project professional that can evaluate if a project scope and associate estimate meets the maturity of the project framework or study phase. Supporting the Leadership Team by providing leadership and direction to deliver governance and assurance on estimates at all stages (Class 2, 3, 4, 5) for a diverse portfolio of sustaining capital projects.?
What you will be doing:
Conduct estimate reviews, governance and assurances on cost estimate deliverables prepared by the Project Teams and estimating consultants for compliance, completeness and accuracy to the required class of estimate.
Provide guidance to our engineering and estimating consultants in the development of capital cost estimates that comply with the Companys requirement
Review the use of engineering deliverables, scope of work, project execution plan, schedules, contractor submissions and other documents in the development of the estimate
Ensure the cost estimate is developed and structured in a proper manner to align with Companys standards and Control Budget creation requirements
Be required to manage multiple estimates/projects at the same time
Assist in the development of owners team cost estimate and next phase study estimates
Develop and maintaining a cost database specifically for the Company
In some cases, develop in-house factored, semi-detailed or detailed cost estimates
Analyse current internal and external trends and the transference of lessons from current and historical projects
Identify and implement improvement initiatives, including programmatic opportunities for increased capital efficiency and productivity
Experience in developing a basis of estimate that clearly articulates the basis, assumptions and exclusions contained in the estimate
Coordinate and consolidate the cost estimate or parts of a cost estimate and assume accountability of the final estimate deliverable
Experienced to review variance between two estimates and provide a succinct, management level, summary of the key variances
Assist with review and evaluation of tenders and claims
What you need:
Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible leader, engaging, developing and coaching the project teams
Trade or Degree qualified in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business or a related field
Experience in a heavy industry, infrastructure construction or resources industry capital projects
Experience working as an Estimator across a large diverse portfolio of capital projects
Ability to influence, engage with and communicate effectively across multiple levels, business units and functional areas
Be detailed, accurate and analytical
Broad understanding of? principles and governance in Project Services including sub-functions of planning and scheduling, cost, change management, data analysis / improvement, risk management and project information management
Excellent time management and organisational skills to concurrently manage multiple projects/estimates through various stages of development
Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in line with the Companys values.
