Rio Tinto operates the worlds largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets. These assets include a world-class, integrated network of 15 iron ore mines, four port facilities, a 1,700 kilometre rail network and related infrastructure.

About the Role:

WorkPac are currently seeking an Project Engineer to Co-ordinated management of the Structural Integrity (SI) program (PMO West or PMO East/Coast) to achieve its strategic objectives and deliver positive outcomes to the organisation.

What you will be doing:

  • Number of strategic projects which are related to or have an impact on each other which are grouped into a single program for better overall control

  • Large unwieldy project which is difficult to control and could be broken down into a number of smaller more manageable projects

  • Other themes for the SI program:

  • Benefit management Stakeholder management

  • Program governance - strategic alignment, quality assurance, risk and issue management

  • Provide guidance to the SI Project Leads/Site Engineers in the delivery of the structural integrity program including educating and training new personnel into the program.

  • Assist with the development, review and approval of the Tender packs, BoQ???s

  • Ensure that projects are integrated within the Sustaining Capital framework to ensure appropriate governance is maintained as well as a sound business case is established.

  • Engage with key site stakeholders to ensure understanding and support of the program

  • Assist with the tender evaluation, clarifications to Contract Award

  • Assist in front-end planning of projects with all stake holders and the review of deliverables

  • Managing the inter-dependencies between the individual SI projects

  • Carry out quarterly audits on the SI projects in implementation internally & externally to ensure uniform delivery and provide recommendations for improvements

  • Management of the program???s lessons learned and updating standard documents to reflect these leanings

  • Assist with the development of 5 year forecast plans to align with the businesses risks and priorities

  • Reviewing and accepting the inspection reports and work orders delivered by AMES. Auditing the work orders to ensure critical information such as functional locations are correct.

  • Updating forecasts as updated inspection information becomes available

  • thrive continuous improvement and productivity

  • Complete regular catch up with Contractors & AMES for program level discussions

  • Update, monitor & report SI program metrics on a set duration

Suitable Candidate:

  • Qualified Civil/Structural Engineer that has worked in mining industry managing structural remediation with a sound knowledge of coating application preferred.

  • Have at least 5 to 10 years??? experience Project Management on SMP projects

  • Working knowledge in MS Project & Primavera P6

  • Perth based role with regular site travel
