About the Role:

WorkPac are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Lead for managing of multiple Sustaining Capital projects at Tom price, Marandoo or Western Turner mine sites for a 12 months contract.

Project lead will be responsible for:

  • Manage projects through lifecycle (pre-feasibility study, feasibility study, execution, commissioning, handover, closeout).

  • Management of all project elements (cost, quality, schedule, site delivery & safety) related to capital projects in accordance with the Rio Tinto Sustaining Capital Portfolio Framework using standard tools, procedures, and specifications.

  • Management of works required to complete each project phase including (but not limited to) client requirements, options analysis, site investigation, data collection, carbon reduction strategy, detailed design, technical reviews, risk assessments and workshops, developing project delivery strategy, tendering, tender evaluation, procurement, contract award, early contractor involvement, shutdown planning, resources planning, construction, commissioning, handover, and close out.

  • Produce and/or provide input into project deliverables at each project phase including consultants briefs, implementation scope of works, deliverable lists, sourcing strategy, stage gate presentations, project approval committee presentations, funding applications, memorandums of understanding, cost estimates, cost forecasts, project schedules, weekly reporting, monthly reporting.

Management of, and liaison with, the project team:

  • Provide guidance and support to project engineers, site engineers and on-site project advisors

  • Collaborate well with project support functions (including procurement, cost analysis, estimators, planners, shutdown schedulers, travel, accommodation, and mobilisation teams).

  • Manage consultants; engineering service providers and contractors in the delivery of projects ensuring project objectives are met.

  • Challenge stakeholders, consultants, contractors etc to develop innovative solutions with a particular focus on reducing carbon emissions. Provide leadership in the management of all aspects of health, safety, environment & community in relation to their capital projects.

Stakeholder engagement:

  • Liaise with internal RTIO clients and stakeholders (maintenance, operations, plant, mining) to understand client requirements.

  • Develop and gain agreement from key stakeholders on co-commitments for project delivery.

  • Engage stakeholderâs, technical assurance, and engineering support teams in design reviews.

  • Develop relationships, engage, and liaise with all stakeholders providing progress updates of engineering and construction activities in accordance with the project schedule.

Additional responsibilities specific to structural Integrity project:

  • Preparations of Tender Documents and BOQâs for future works including future major Project Works and minor SOWâs to complete P0âs issued to site AMES team

  • Facilitating the design of any required temporary propping for the execution of the works

  • Review and verify PPPC documentation and workings including ongoing works claims

  • Manage the timely completion of TQâs

  • Review contractor estimates for variation works

  • Design reviews of Contractor drawings for replacement items. Facilitating or completing design as required. Assuring As-Built drawings are logged with EDM as per the procedure.

  • Responsible for shutdown planning, including scope challenge to ensure contractor is maximising use of Major and Modular Shut periods to reduce the risk of project overrun. Complete Pre-Shut Walk arounds with the Contractor with focus on Scaffolding required and Services which may impede works

  • Co-ordination with shut planners and supervisors to optimise shut works;
