About the Role
WorkPac are seeking a Testing Lead for an exciting new decarbonisation project based with our client, Rio Tinto Rail Division. The Rail Decarbonisation team is leading a study to determine options available to decarbonise our railway. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team delivering the Battery Electric Locomotive (BEL) Proof of Concept (PoC).
The Lead Tester will have responsibility for the development, safe execution, and satisfactory completion of the testing activities alongside our existing operations. Working within an integrated team from across the wider business, you will ensure alignment to the project schedule and quality expectations to meet the PoC objectives. You will be the primary interface with the Sustaining Capital and AutoHaul commissioning teams.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated professional with a passion for testing, commissioning and decarbonisation. We are seeking a collaborative individual with demonstrated teamwork skills and previous experience working successfully with cross functional teams.
Working within an integrated team from across the wider business, you will ensure alignment to the project schedule and quality expectations to meet the PoC objectives. You will be the primary interface with the Sustaining Capital and AutoHaul?? commissioning teams.
The PoC objectives are key to informing Rio Tinto???s decarbonisation strategy and you will require a research and development mindset with the ability to adjust your approach to help solve one of the largest challenges of our lifetime.
Duties and Responsibilities
Development and quality assurance of the PoC test plan
Executing testing, planning and logistics, deployment and commissioning activities
Overall coordination of the test team resources
Skills and Experience
Experience working with complex supply chains or railway operations
Demonstrated experience delivering testing and commissioning activities and proficiency in testing principles and documentation of results
Leadership experience delivering project in brownfields and operational environments?
Understanding of safety assurance requirements for the testing and commissioning of safety critical systems?
Time management skills with the ability to deliver schedule-based outcomes?
Developed stakeholder engagement, influencing, and facilitation skills
Tertiary education in Engineering or equivalent industry experience
Technical experience in one or more of the following disciplines is beneficial but not essential; Locomotive traction systems, Charging infrastructure and related control systems or safety critical operational and control systems
