About the Role:

In partnership with our leading civil construction and infrastructure client, WorkPac is currently seeking an experienced Safety Officer for an immediate start. This position will be for an initial 8 to 12 weeks in duration, across varied major civil projects across metropolitan and regional areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducting Daily Pre-Start and Weekly Toolbox Meetings

• Perform Alcohol Testing at Pre-Start Meetings on an ad-hoc basis

• Arrange project inductions and provide relevant rail and general induction requirements for the project, updating the Induction Register as required.

• Lead and participate in Site Safety Inspections and Observations

• Ensure new starters read, understand, and sign relevant Safe Work Method Statements and Safe Operating Procedures

• Ensure site presence to build relationships and proactive culture within the team

• Facilitate project specific training including heat stress, Siemens Electrical, SWMS, Manual Handling, Drug and Alcohol, Fatigue, Risk Management, COVID-19, Mental Health etc.

• Developed Project specific Isolation Procedure and Training

• Undertake regular Safe Work Method Statement Reviews, ensure all project personnel review, and re-sign monthly and 3 x monthly review and new revisions of all SWMS.

• Maintain Supervisor HSE Documents folders to ensure they are up to date, put together new folders where required.

• Participate in Emergency Response Drills and Meetings

• Arrange site vehicle inductions

• Ensure Safety Data Sheets are available to all personnel on site including Chemical Risk Assessments

• Undertake internal audits and participate in external client audits

• Developed site audit and inspection schedule

• Develop audit and site inspection templates

• Develop Project Specific Procedures

• Facilitate review and updating of Project Risk Register

Skills and Experience:

• Demonstrated experience as a Safety Officer or Safety Advisor with experience within civil infrastructure or road works highly regarded

• Current C Class Driver's License and Own Transport

• Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety or Relevant Tertiary Qualification
