Workshop Mechanic

  • Monday to Friday - 38 hour working week.

  • Temp to Perm for successful candidates.

  • $53.44 p/hr + penalties

  • Located in Port Kembla

About the role:

WorkPac are looking for a reliable Workshop Mechanic with a solid commitment to working safely, driven to achieve and enjoy contributing to our team's success. Day to day duties include diagnosing and completing scheduled and emergency repairs on a variety of forklifts, sweepers and heavy vehicles onsite including auto electrical and hydraulic work. This is to ensure their operations can continue onsite 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The hours:

Monday to Friday - 5am to 1:30pm, work the mornings and have the afternoon off!

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues on forklifts and other mobile plant including sweepers and HC trucks.

  • Work independently and unsupervised as required to meet maintenance goals/targets.

  • Demonstrated commitment to our goal of Zero Harm (for our people, our equipment and the environment)

  • Commitment to all site safety standards and requirements

Requirement for this role include:

  • Previous work history and experience as a mechanic repairing and maintaining various forklift brands and sizes (up to 56 tonne)

  • Cert III Plant Mechanic Trade Certification or similar

  • Current High Risk Forklift Licence (LF) preferable

  • Ability to perform call outs after hours on an ad hoc basis
