RECONCILIATION ACTION PLAN 2017 - 2019
The Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) program is a framework for organisations to realise their vision for reconciliation. RAP’s are practical plans of action built on relationships, respect and opportunities. RAP’s create social change and economic opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
Through the program, the WorkPac Group has developed a RAP — which is a business plan that documents what we as an organisation commit to do to contribute to reconciliation in Australia. Our RAP gives the organisation the best chance of achieving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement objectives, and delivering broader outcomes including:

INTRODUCING OUR RECONCILIATION ACTION PLAN 2017 - 2019

The campsite in the middle is where it begins (the meeting of Phil Smart & the Bowie Family). From there they reach out and others reach in, like a fire in their belly to help and engage with others to show their full potential (yellow and red oxide).
The travel lines on the edges are the communities from all walks of life that surround them searching for knowledge and reaching out (white dots, inner side).
The White dots on the other side of the travel lines represents knowledge, this sits there waiting for the people in the middle to let it be free for everyone to see.
About JobTrail, the WorkPac Group and the Bowie Family
The WorkPac Groups JobTrail division has evolved from a 25-year friendship between WorkPac’s Chairman, Phil Smart and Albert Bowie. The Bowie Family have a history of business ownership and are well respected in the Indigenous community. Albert Bowie’s tribal heritage is from Badu and Erub in the Torres Strait and Palm Island. His wife Nancy Bowie (nee Go Sam) is from the Jirrbal and Ngadgon-Jii tribes in Far North Queensland.
The partnership with WorkPac has produced WorkPac’s own Indigenous Services division – JobTrail. It is the result of this friendship and also a shared vision – to develop Indigenous landowners to become responsible, reliable and adept at transitioning between social realities in contemporary Australia.
WorkPac had a strong desire to engage with the Indigenous community, create job opportunities and set up mentoring and pastoral care programs. The Bowie family has been able to assist by minimising the challenges faced when recruiting and retaining Indigenous Landowner employees. The connection to community enables JobTrail to provide ongoing holistic support to the employee and the acquisition of grounding and stability techniques.
Indigenous participants are recruited through the WorkPac Group’s award winning recruitment methodology, with each candidate supported individually by our internal and dedicated employment and transition partners.Working in partnership with new and existing WorkPac Group clients to identify and determine workforce and skills requirements, we use this information to form plans that directly address engagement, skills development, mentoring, retention and transition to identified employment opportunities
We provide a range of short-term job-ready programs conducted prior to employment to prepare Indigenous candidates for the workplace. These programs combine our community equipping program with nationally recognised training that is relevant to your business requirements.
Indigenous employees will undertake a full traineeship whilst employed in ongoing work. This will be aligned with your requirements and the future career goals of the candidate. There are a variety of courses available with the ability to complete on-line learning, classroom learning and also workplace learning.
JobTrail is committed to engaging the communities in which we operate in, to create long term relationships through various programs and initiatives.These include Positive Energy Programs, working with schools, charities, community leaders and supporting the community from the grassroots to create long term benefits for all involved.
We offer Cultural Awareness Training for individuals and organisations who are directly involved in delivering services to Aboriginal people and their communities.Discussions are held on Indigenous perspectives, culture, communication barriers and how to improve intercultural skills, with explanations of teaching & learning methods that are known to work best with Indigenous candidates.
