About the Role
WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced IT Help Desk Officer Based within Mackay for an immediate start. This position will hold a Monday to Friday roster and full time hours for an initial 6 week contract with possibility of extension with competitive rates available for the successful applicant.
You will assist and take responsibility where required in the support of desktop software, desktop hardware and generally the operation of the IT Help Desk, Provide the customer service orientated support service to users. And develop a capacity to relieve in all areas of the IT Help Desk in order to contribute to the smooth running of the Information Services Program.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Shall include, but not be limited to:
1. User support, mainly in the area of PC operations, and general applications support.
2. Detection, recording and reporting to the Systems and Network Administrator, and hardware supplier any problems associated with hardware.
3. Detection, recording and reporting to the Application & Database Administrator, or in his absence the software supplier(s), any problems associated with software.
4. Maintain support register and monitor status of support calls.
5. General computer operations, including software installation, user security as per management authorisation
6. Maintain computer room in clean and tidy condition, and assist IT Help Desk Officers.
7. Monitor stationery and consumable supplies, and ensure a satisfactory stock level is maintained of all such items
8. Other responsibilities as delegated by Management within the scope of this position
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
Experience in commercial computing industry.
Thorough experience in configuration and maintenance of personal computers, notebook computers and associated peripheral devices as used within commercial industry.
Thorough experience with Microsoft Windows Device Operating Systems and Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems.
Desirable
Possession of degree or diploma with commercial computing content.
Experience in a Corporate Environment supporting multiple networked personal computers or similar end-user devices.
Skills
Essential
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all levels of Council. Sound administrative and organisational ability to operate the computer system, maintain call register etc.
Ability to use sundry software, including Microsoft Office products
Ability to research reference materials, and to understand and apply the knowledge gained
Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge
Essential
Sound knowledge of the operating system(s) of Council's computers, including proficiency in technical knowledge and operation of hardware, such as personal computers and printers, needing attention by Council staff.
Desirable
Sound knowledge of Council's application software package(s) including an understanding of the overall network and location of files.
Knowledge and understanding of Councils organisational structure, services and departmental functions
Understanding of Councils Enterprise Risk Management Policy and Framework objectives as they impact the position.
Special Requirements
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the position
Current holder of Class C driver's licence.
Must be either an Australian Citizen or a holder of an Australian permanent residency visa to be eligible to apply for this position
