Area Sales Manager

About the Role:

On behalf of our leading Global Mining client, we are seeking a professional and dedicated Area Sales Manager for an ongoing permanent opportunity.

Reporting to the Regional Manager you will be responsible for Managing the geographical territory allocated in a manner that will maximise sales of new and used forklifts, as well as long and short term hire contracts and preventative maintenance agreements. You will represent the company fairly and honestly in a way that will result in an ongoing development and enhancements of customer relations.The position will be a long term permanent opportunity.. The role will be based in Laverton, Victoria and interstate travel will be required from time to time.

Role Purpose:

  • It is the Area Sales Manager???s responsibility to obtain sufficient leads to generate the number of calls and proposals required to achieve their agreed sales targets. You are expected to conduct regular eyeballing and cold calling programs within your territory.

  • Profitable Sale and Permanent Hire of Komatsu, OMG forklift and Baumann Sideloaders

  • Customers, in their territories, who have entered into long term contract with Komatsu shall in addition to receiving regular calls, the ASM shall ensure that the customer is satisfied with the level of service being given.

  • Quarterly read the ???hour meter??? and report the information back to the branch Hire co-ordinator. Annually, they shall have the customer complete a performance appraisal of the Komatsu services.

  • You are expected to attend the regular sales meeting, held on (as discussed with your Manager). In this meeting you are expected to report at the meeting of what are your ???goers???, what you expect to close this week and what opportunities you are working on. The sales meeting is also the opportunity to workshop or brainstorm idea???s or methods to close deals.

  • It is the responsibility of the Area Sales Manager to acquire and upgrade the knowledge skills and expertise required to negotiate a profitable business. An individual Training Plan will be developed. In addition to formal training you are expected to attend any locally organised training including in company training, product information sessions, or supplier briefings.

Skills and experience required:

  • Capital equipment sales background

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Product knowledge

  • Ability to evaluate trade-ins

  • Industry market and application knowledge

  • Ability to complete application evaluation

  • Mechanical skills would be an advantage

  • Strong sales skills and forklift product knowledge desirable

  • Driver???s Licence (car)

  • Forklift operators licence
