About the Role:

WorkPac are currently seeking a Business Improvement Specialist to join our Client, Rio Tinto at their Operations Centre in Perth. In this role you will be responsible for end-to-end project delivery of several key projects / studies supporting all Rail Operations teams. Working in a collaborative community within Rio Tintos Railways Division, the scope of work you will be accountable for is challenging and diverse. Your demonstrated ability to analyse complex information, engage, connect, and positively influence key stakeholders will be critical to your effectiveness in this role.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Perform all aspects of project management required to successfully deliver your portfolio of projects including:

  • Lead and coordinate initiatives through all stages of the project cycle: from the study phase, business case development, project scoping, testing, deployment, to transition to support and handover.

  • Effectively and actively engage with key stakeholders, with the end-users are at the centre of the engagement approach.

  • Deliver projects in accordance with the appropriate methodology and project management processes, in adequation with the level ofcomplexity of each initiative.

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to assure delivery of key initiatives including coordinating workshops, review meetings and tracking critical action items.

  • Monitor, manage and report on all relevant project performance indicators.

  • Effectively manage vendors through procurement, delivery, and invoice approval.

  • Ensure the business successfully implements the Studies and Projects, delivering value to frontline workers in a sustainable manner.

  • Build effective working relationships with all key stakeholders across Rail Operations, Rail Maintenance, Rail Engineering, Safeworking, Change and Safety boards, IS&T.

  • Prepare written reports and deliver presentations to business leaders.

  • Ad-hoc additional priorities to support leaders in the successful management of the Rail Operations Excellence function.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • A strategic mindset with the ability to apply business insight

  • Analytical capability in business performance improvement and business case analysis

  • Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience developing and delivering project reports, PowerPoint presentations and workshops

  • Demonstrated experience in portfolio/program and/or project management

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

  • Commitment to Rio Tinto value drivers of Care, Courage, and Curiosity

  • Prior rail experience is beneficial, but not essential
