Construction Safety Officer

About the Position:

In partnership with our leading construction client, WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Construction Safety Officer based within Adelaide (Welland) . This role will be temporary to permanent, direct with our client.

As a Construction Safety Officer, you will be an integral member contributing to a small, fast-paced team by providing safety support, recommendations, training and inspections in a well organised and timely manner to ensure all sites are safe and compliant with all legislations / acts.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, Operations Manager and Construction Managers, advising and implementing on all matters relating to HSW compliances and statutory requirements in accordance with legislation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain safe and efficient construction sites from commencement to completion.

  • Attend all construction sites weekly and check all HSW documentation is completed and compliant.

  • Assist with site inductions, signing in by all attendees, toolbox meetings, provide training on SiteBook for sub-contractors and their workers if unsure on what they need to do to be compliant.

  • Ensure all sub-contractors have completed, uploaded and have their workers sign off on the SWMS.

  • Check SWMS are site specific and workers are carrying out their tasks / duties in accordance with their SWMS, SOPs and MSDS.

  • Prepare site HSE requirements. Hazardous materials / chemicals are recorded on register and correct fire extinguishing equipment is available on site.

  • Investigate any incidents and accidents and conduct training and toolbox meetings to site personnel to ensure correct steps are taken and followed to not have a re-occurrence.

Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified with a Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (required).

  • Diploma in Work Health & Safety (advantageous).

  • Construction Industry Induction White Card (required).

  • Current First Aid Certificate (required).

  • Current South Australian Driver's Licence (required).

  • Experience in the construction industry / background advantageous.

  • Knowledge and experience in the use of SiteBook advantageous.

  • Knowledge of Work Health & Safety Act and Regulations.

  • Strong communication skills (excellent English language verbal, written and punctuation), attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of the role.
