Coordinator Engineering

About the Role:

  • Lead and empower the Engineering Services team to provide technical advice and assistance to the Shire of Capel, to ensure the successful delivery of high-level engineering outcomes, within timeframes and budget, in the areas of:

  • Subdivision and land development.

  • Capital works project management.

  • Infrastructure maintenance program funding and delivery.

  • Extractive industry licensing management.

  • Liaison on engineering technical matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Engineering Services team and wider organisation through positive team participation through workload sharing, backup provision, and/or advice in areas of expertise.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Engineering Services by assisting in the ongoing review and updating of information relevant to Engineering Services.

  • Any other tasks determined as appropriate to the position.

Key Requirements:

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or relevant equivalent (or significant progress towards)

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience

  • Relevant knowledge and experience in civil design, construction and compliance with relevant local laws, policies and standards for infrastructure assets.

  • Proficiency in project management of engineering projects.

  • General understanding of Asset Management and its relevance to sustainability.

  • Experience in infrastructure planning, assessment and management of subdivisional development

  • Highly developed understanding of engineering analysis, design and life cycle management relating to roads, drainage and other public works infrastructure

  • Advanced Worksite Traffic Management accreditation and knowledge of Traffic management plan assessment and restricted access vehicle requirements

  • Experience in contract management and dealing with contractors

  • Demonstrated public relations and interpersonal skills in a customer-based environment with an ability to influence, negotiate and resolve conflict

  • Strong organisational skills with the capacity to work unsupervised, manage priorities and meet deadlines

  • Computer skills in MS Office (Int/Adv in Word & Excel), MicroStation, AutoCAD and/or CivilCAD

  • Report writing experience

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of statutory requirements including the Local Government and Town Planning & Development Acts and other relevant legislation applicable to service area

  • Sound knowledge of the Local Government Act 1995 as it applies to property, land use, streets and thoroughfares
