Drill & Blast Engineer

About the Role: WorkPac are currently seeking Drill and Blast Engineers to join our Mine Technical Services teams based in the Pilbara. These key roles are responsible for drill and blast design and planning activities for the mining operations in order to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of the mine plan. You will be Involved in creating effective drill patterns, electronic initiation and charging designs and explore new ways to increase drill and blast productivity. The successful applicant will be required to work a 8:6 Roster, Thursday to Thursday 12 hour shifts FIFO ex-Perth. Key Responsibilities will include Engage and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders Responsiblefor daily, weekly, and monthly tasks to deliver the 2wp and quarter plan by: Daily and weekly planning\scheduling of all drill & blast activities (drill CLUP design, drilling, loading, charging, and firing) Drill and blast pattern design, reconciliation and post blast review Vibration monitoring and blast videoing of sensitive blasting (heritage, environment and infrastructure controlled) Explosive reconciliation, tracking, ordering and management in according with EMP and ASEIG code of practice Ad-hoc project work to improve productivity, efficiency and cost optimisation where required Daily interaction with Production teams to build positive working relationship with Operations (including face to face catchups and routine pit inspections to go-look-see) Fostering teamwork, safety, inclusion, diversity and excellence in the MTS and wider site teams by following RTIO values and behaviours. Skills & Experience Required: 2+ years experience Drill & Blast experience with Iron Ore Tertiary qualifications in mining engineering or another mining related field Demonstrated drill and blast experience within an open cut mining environment - preferably iron ore. A working knowledge of business and 3D mining software such as Vulcan and Blast Planis required. Software experience is highly desirable such as Paradigm, Microsoft office suite, CAT Minestar, and RTIO specific software for visualisation, and autonomous drill fleet management.
