Full time role (up to 40 hours per week) Weipa

The Weipa Town Authority is currently looking for a Communications and Events Officer, working up to 40 hours per week including some weekend and after hours work.
What the role entails;
Reporting to the Supervisor Communities, you will be responsible for:
Developing, distributing and promoting public relation materials including promotional banners, posters, public notices, community updates, media releases and other external communications;
Coordinating and implementing creative, administrative and operational aspects of event planning for WTA including development of the annual WTA events program
Developing and implementing a Community Engagement Policy for WTA;
Facilitating engagement opportunities with WTA members, community groups and residents
Maintaining WTA website and social media platforms (including assisting to maintain the Disaster Management Dashboard)
Maintaining effective administration systems and
Providing support and undertaking tasks to meet the requirements of the Communities Operational Plan.
What you will need for this role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Skills and experience in creating and developing public relation materials
Experience in planning, coordinating and executing events;
Experience in managing social media / website platforms
Experience in community engagement projects
Previous administration experience and qualifications
Well-developed time management and prioritisation skills of own work
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work well in a team and autonomously
High level computer literacy (i.e. Canva / Microsoft Office Suite Word / Excel)
A current Queensland C (Car) class driver licence
Weipa Town Authority would consider flexible working arrangements including part time hours. This role includes five weeks annual leave (pro-rata for part time positions), paid sick leave and superannuation.
