About the Role

WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist for our coal mining client based in Collie, WA. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing compliance of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) including the facilitation of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and monitoring Training Effectiveness.

Duties include:

• Oversee contractor engagement and safety compliance in an operational environment.

• Design and implement supporting programs across site and ongoing development of safe and effective work practices.

• Drive and Deliver hazard identification awareness and risk management processes.

• Provide leadership, advice, training, and practical support for all OHS aspects of the open-cut mining operation.

• Review and monitor compliance for site inspections, hazard reports and incident reports.

• Ensure the sites ERT training and capabilities are relevant site

• Facilitate the site departments in establishing and implementing OHS compliance and performance, including ongoing monitoring.

• Design, develop and implement OHS, ERT and Training systems and procedures, including implementation of programs and updating work procedures.

Skills and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety

• Demonstrated work history of occupational health and safety, including management and leadership of Emergency Response Teams, and involved in Training validations or assessments.

• 5+ years experience in heavy industry or a mining environment.

• Ability to understand and interpret related occupational health and safety legislation and educate others as required.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to educate and coach site personnel.

• WA C Class Drivers Licence

• Occupational First Aid or ERT Qualifications (preferred)

• ICAM or equivalent qualification (preferred)
