Our client is a leading Engineering provider, based within Brisbane (Hemmant), who provides structural, mechanical and piping engineering services across a diverse range of industries.

Our client is a highly respected and reputable engineering company with over 40 years experience in the design, fabrication, installation and maintenance of varying types of process plant and equipment across the industrial, food, utilities and mining sectors.

About the Role

WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer for a permanent opportunity located in Hemmant (Brisbane), Queensland. This role will join the engineering and drafting team in an extremely diverse and rewarding position. Works completed are mostly in brownfield sites adding to or modifying existing plant and equipment. This role will be Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week.

Reporting to the Principal Design Engineer and Drafting Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following;

Duties and Responsibilities

• Layout design and detailing of mechanical plant & equipment for materials handling, mining / minerals processing, food, manufacturing and petro-chemical industries

• Design drafting of process plant & equipment such as tanks, vessels, chutes, hoppers, platforms, walkways, stairs and various types of material handling and processing systems

• Ability to work from concept designs through basic engineering (development) to detailing to provide workshop fabrication and assembly drawing packages

• Working with Project Managers / Coordinators, Design Engineering Team members, Trade Supervision / Personnel and Client Representatives

• Ensure the accuracy of designs by interpreting engineering concepts and specifications, conducting site measurements and translating into 3D CAD environment, liaising with trade personnel and ensuring continuity of your work through workshop fabrication and installation

• Working to project specific time-lines to ensure quality engineering design drawings are delivered on time

Skills and Experience

• Diploma / Advanced Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical)

• Strong Experience in 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor preferred)

• Proven experience design drafting to Australian Standards, Codes & Specifications

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to relate to clients, suppliers, workshop and trade personnel

  Desirable Selection Criteria:

• Autodesk Inventor experience is preferred (similar will be considered)

• Demonstrated ability to develop engineering concepts through to design and detailed drafting

• Experience design drafting to Australian Standards and Codes of Practice for a variety of industries

• Experience working with or in a workshop or trade oriented environment

• Proven ability to conduct detailed and accurate site measurements

• Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with Rights to Work within Australia only (Visa Sponsorship will not be considered for this role).

• Current C Class Driver's License
