About the Role:
To provide guidance and support to both the community and the Shire regarding best practice natural resource management, in accordance with procedures, statutory requirements and Council policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Support wider organisation through positive team participation and by assisting when required with workload, providing backup, or advice in areas of expertise.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of Parks, Waste and Natural Environment by assisting in the ongoing review and updating of information including policies, procedures, information sheets and processes.
Any other tasks determined as appropriate to the position.
Key Requirements:
Essential
Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, NRM or significant experience in a similar position
Project Management skills
Experience in reserve management
Experience in preparing and assessing clearing permits
Experience in preparing grant applications and managing grant funding
Demonstrated report writing skills
Computer skills in MS Office (Int/Adv in Word & Excel)
Desirable
Knowledge of NRM practices in the south west region
Knowledge of water quality/testing
Local plant species knowledge
Knowledge of weed control methods
Working knowledge of contaminated site legislation and application
Experience in area rehabilitation
