O&M Electrical HV Switching Operator - New England Solar Farm

About the Role:

WorkPac are seeking an Electrical Technician for the Project during the Operations and Maintenance phase. Skilled and competent Senior Electrician, with recognised license of HV Swathing Operator or keen to undertake the HV Switching Course. Working along with the O&M team in all the routine activities, monitoring and solving the issues of the plant, keeping the operation of the Solar Farm in compliance with the NER requirements and managing of all the documentation and reporting of the site. Directly report to the Site Manager. Chance to lead a small group of workers.

This position requires the candidate to currently reside in Armidale/Uralla or be wiling to relocated. The contract will be a 2 year fixed term with potential to extend for another 2 years following. Starting roster is 5 days on / 2 days off. There may be a requirement for on call days / nights or a 7 day rotation at a later stage - compensation would change accordingly. Initially there will be a lot of work to assist management with finalising procedures etc. in the early stages. Looking for experience in the maintenance of a solar farm or related, and someone who has had experience with HV switching, there is an option to certify in HV switching if not current.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics and similar

  • Preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment

  • Experience in electrical maintenance and repairing various types of electrical equipment with preferred experience in renewables and solar.

  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting various project systems issues.

  • Developing standard operating documents for machine maintenance, operations, and training.

  • Overseeing and supervising sub-contractors.

  • Undertake switching as required according to the HV Switching Procedures.

  • Cooperate with the Site Manager to ensure all compliance to OHS and Environmental requirements.

  • Cooperate with the Site Manager to ensure all registers are maintained and kept up to date.

  • Availability for 24hr on-call (when required). Standard and Special hourly rates apply.

  • Overtime and availability outside of normal daytime hours (i.e. night works, when requested)

  • Work Order System knowledge, incident investigation, O&M Management software familiarity (CMMS). Not required long experience. Training will be provided.

  • Send Work Request and open Work Orders, processing and completing the works.

  • Inventory experience, including materials and equipment storage.

  • Understand and comply with the permits and licenses needed for the electrical works

  • Understand and comply with the Health and Safety plan and documentation.

  • Experience with the SWMS, JSEA, PPE and other H&S matters.

  • Understand and comply Quality and Environment plan development.

  • Reporting of O&M activities to the Site Manager.

  • reporting of Health, Safety and Environmental incidents to the HSE and Site Manager.

  • Supervision of the rest of the team, when requested.

  • Monitoring of asset???s performance.

  • Management of personnel and subcontractors.

  • Cooperate with the HSE Manager to ensure all compliance to OHS and Environmental requirements.

About you:

  • Electrical qualifications (s)

  • O&M knowledge for solar plants

  • Health and Safety experience

  • Quality and environmental experience

  • Current driver's licence

  • General Construction Induction (White Card)

  • Working knowledge of MS programs

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience in O&M activities.

  • HV Switching accreditation otherwise,

  • HV Switching Operator Course will be provided

  • Experience in CMMS tools
